“A cinematographer is a visual psychiatrist, moving an audience…making them think the way you want them to think, painting pictures in the dark”.

My commitment…

I want to make the best version of any project I’m involved with. Whatever the budget, large or small, I will give that project the same undying passion from start to finish.

Collaboration is key…

I enjoy a close partnership with production, cast & crew. My aim is to run my department in the most efficient way that responds creatively and economically to the opportunities of the material.

Creating the look…

Script, story, characters & their environment are my inspiration when building the visual language of a project. I like to work in partnership with the showrunner, director, producer & all heads of department to define and maintain the look of the show.

My beginnings…

As a third generation cinematographer I began my own experiments in photography very early. Learning the art of visual storytelling through stills, how to create a finished image by printing in the family dark room, these were just a few of the key things my grandfather & father would teach me.

Early Influences…

Some of my earliest memories are of visiting my father at work. These impressions were to be the foundation for an enduring passion for film making.

“For me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see & everything to do with the way you see them.”
